Wellsford State Forest (7187 ha)- Located 15km north east of Bendigo, the Wellsford is a large predominately Ironbark forest which in springtime has a marvellous display of showy wildflowers. The Wellsford forest also has an extensive history of supplying Bendigo with a number of resources including timber, eucalyptus oil and honey. Gunyah Picnic Area - located in the Wellsford State Forest, was once the site of an old Eucalyptus Distillery, many of the foundations are still seen there today. The picnic area has tables and a fireplace for you to enjoy a picnic by the dam. |
