Government Grant $1.6 million

Bendigo’s Chinese heritage is set to be developed further with the Victorian State Government announcing $1.6 million towards a $4.4 million project to develop a cultural events area close to the towns Golden Dragon Museum

It is one step closer to realising Bendigo’s 2008 citizen of the year, 73 year old Russell Jack’s vision of making Bendigo the most significant Chinese cultural attraction outside of China

Current plans include a forecourt for staging public events and markets and a water feature over Bendigo Creek. The Golden Dragon Museum is currently awaiting the arrival of a multi million dollar collection or Chinese Treasures.
