Cascade WaterfallBendigo Victoria
The cascades waterfall and fountain are loctaed in Rosalind park and were suggested by George Lansell after a trip to Europe. His vision was to rejuvenate the hill which hade become barren after the departure of the government camps. William Vahland submitted his final design for the water feature on 16th April 1880. The tender to build the cascades was awarded to the lowest tender of Peter Finn. Unfortunately the works were never completed due primarily to problems with the wtare supply. The cascades fell into disrepair and were eventually buried until 1996 when they were excavated and restoration work was commenced. The new fountain was cast by Billman's Foundrt of Castlemain and after landscaping were reopened on 26th October 1997. During the excavation a number of artifacts were uncovered including two cannons from the HMS Nelson |
