Did you know - Originally known as Bendigo's Creek, the town was named after an employee on a local property who was nicknamed "Bendigo" after the famous English prize fighter William "Bendigo" Thompson.
The Clan MacLeaod Friendship Cairn is located in Bendigo's White Hills Botanic Gardens. The upper section of the Cairn contains stones from around the world which were brough by clanfolk who attended the 1999 Clan MacLeod World Reunion which was held in Bendigo between April 28th to May 2nd 1999. The Cairn is a lasting memorial to the first International gathering of the Clan MacLeod in the Southern Hemispere.
