Tannery Lane Vineyard is in the Mandurang Valley, on the southern side of Bendigo.   We have a picturesque sunny northerly outlook on a gentle slope with quartz and clay soils, and slightly cooler climatic conditions.   The property is owned (and occupied) by Huw Williams and Trena Tenace.

The vineyard was established in the late 1980’s, and we produce the region’s standard-bearer Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.   With some foresight Sangiovese and Nebiolo vines were also established, which somewhat romantically reflects the property’s Tuscan ambience.    Visitors enjoy the tranquillity of our garden; an oasis nestled into the natural bushland.

This ‘pico-boutique’ vineyard is hand pruned and hand picked.   We enjoy the minimal use of chemicals and sprays, irrigate frugally and use mulch when we can.    Kangaroos are (un) invited to control the weeds, birds run the gauntlet of nets, frost damage in late spring is minimised with overhead water sprays.    We want our wines to display the vineyard’s particular characteristics so traditional winemaking techniques and minimal manipulation in the winery is our intent and practice.
